What is the CRP registration?
Short answer
CRP stands for Conselho Regional de Psicologia — Brazil’s Regional Council of Psychology — and also for the registration number it issues. Without an active registration it is not legal to practise psychology in Brazil. The registry is public: anyone can check whether a professional is in good standing.
How the number is formed
The registration reads like "06/123456": the first two digits identify the council region, the rest is the professional’s number. Each Regional Council covers a state or a group of states.
A professional who moves states registers with the corresponding region, and the previous number stops being the active one.
Why it appears on every IAURA profile
The CRP is the profession’s only mandatory, publicly verifiable credential. Every profile in the directory shows the number, and the professional provides the address of their entry in the council’s public registry so that anyone can check it.
IAURA automatically checks the format of the number, whether it is already in use by another account, and whether the address given belongs to the council’s portal. It does not confirm, before publication, that the registration belongs to whoever signed up — and the profile says exactly that, rather than implying a check that does not happen.
