What is the psychology record (prontuário)?

Short answer

The prontuário is the record a psychologist keeps of each case — who is being seen, what was agreed, how the work evolves. It is mandatory in Brazil, held under the professional’s responsibility, and protected by confidentiality.

What it is not

It is not a session diary or a transcript of what the person said. The record covers the process — enough to continue the work and to answer for it, without turning the session into a document.

It also does not belong to a platform, to the clinic whose room was rented, or to whoever paid. It follows the responsible professional.

Retention and access

The council sets a minimum retention period and the rules of access, including the right of the person seen to their own record. Confirm the version in force on the CFP website before discarding anything.

Digital records need care equivalent to paper under lock: who can reach the device, where the backup lives, what happens if it is lost.

IAURA does not touch this

The platform publishes the profile and takes the client to your direct contact. It hosts no sessions, stores no records and has no access to anything discussed — the clinical relationship is yours, and so is its record.

Frequently asked questions

Can the person seen request their own record?
Access to one’s own record is provided for, in the forms and with the care the council defines. For a concrete case, your Regional Council is the right channel.

This entry is informative and does not replace professional assessment. IAURA is a directory: it does not provide care and does not diagnose.
